About Me

Börteçin Ege Through my father's work, I had the opportunity to experience different countries from an early age. As a child, I lived in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, for three years, followed by Sydney, Australia, where I attended primary school and became fluent in English. My family's final destination was Vienna, Austria, where I learned German and later studied Computer Science.

I studied Computer Science at the Vienna University of Technology (TU Wien). During my studies and for many years thereafter, I specialized in modeling and developing relational databases. I completed my master's thesis on database systems at Kraftwerksunion (KWU), Erlangen, Germany, under the supervision of the Databases and Artificial Intelligence Group, TU Wien (Advisor: Prof. Dr. George Gottlob). The thesis, entitled Development of a Database for the Commercial Department of Kraftwerksunion in Compliance with ISO 9001 Quality Requirements, was successfully completed in 2003.

Since 2005, I have also been actively involved in Semantic Web technologies and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Drawing on many years of professional experience as a computer scientist in Vienna, Istanbul, Erlangen/Nuremberg, Darmstadt, and Frankfurt am Main, I served as the lead editor and contributing author of two Springer books: Corporate Semantic Web (2015) and Semantische Datenintelligenz im Einsatz (2021).

Since 2019, I have also been actively engaged in public education on Artificial Intelligence through the Vienna Adult Education Centers (VHS Wien) and VHS Urania.

Today, I work as a freelance AI specialist based in Vienna, with a focus on Data Science, Machine Learning, and Deep Learning.
